Adopt a Kennel
This fall, we have begun a new program at the Shelter called "Pennies for Paws." This is a fantastic opportunity for the local schools to help us in our community education about the shelter and it's importance. Our first class to adopt a kennel is the 3rd grade class at Meadlowlark Elementary and their teacher, Joyce Gloystein.
Their kennel is the very first as you walk in the door of the adoption room and several of the children in the class have been out to visit the dog in their kennel. The children collect their change every week, which goes into one of our cat or dog banks and then bring it to us at the shelter. In fact, their first total amount collected was over $56!
They have even decorated little cards for each kennel, so every animal here at the shelter is special to them! And now, we have added another Adopt a Kennel School! Welcome to the 2nd and 5th Graders of Windy Hills Elementary in Kearney!
For more information about your class or school adopting a kennel, contact the shelter (308) 237-PETS.
Rummaging for Rover!
Is your house full of "stuff" that you are tired of looking at? Are your closets ready to burst because they are crammed with things you never use? Do you simply want to help the critters but don't know how? Well, here's your chance!!!
Friday and Saturday, July 13th and 14th, we are holding our first ever Rummaging for Rover - a garage sale to benefit the Kearney Area Humane Society! Simply gather your extra trash and treasures and bring them to the shelter. We will tag it and get it ready. Please bring items that are clean and in usable condition, and please-no adult clothing.
Check back often for updates!
